Can I Get Pregnant While on my Period?

The old (read: archaic) words of wisdom on this subject were that you could not, that a woman could essentially quit taking birth control if she was in fact on her period. As we now know, that is not the case at all. The truth is that each woman is different, and may ovulate at different points throughout her menstruation cycle. While the majority of women will not conceive a child during their pregnancy, there’s no reason not to protect yourself with a condom or other form of birth control if you’re actively concerned about getting pregnant.

Can I Get Pregnant if He Pulls Out?

Well on a very technical level, the answer is no. If semen doesn’t come in contact with the vagina, then there’s no way for the female to get impregnated. The reality though is that this is an extremely risky form of birth control, as the male must be totally trusting in his ability to be able to pull out in time and ejaculate away from the vagina. Even one mistake could lead to a pregnancy.

Can I Get Pregnant if my Tubes Are Tied or Burned?

Here’s another good question. Having one’s fallopian tubes tied (called tubal ligation) or burned would seem to be the end of the pregnancy worries for a woman. But is it the definitive end to the situation? Well not exactly. While the permanent success rate of the operation is very high (in the 98% range), there are about 2% of cases where pregnancies have occurred, either outside the uterus, or in the event the tubes have managed to heal themselves enough to function as originally intended again. In the case of cauterized (or burned) tubes, the chances of getting pregnant are extremely minimal.

In the event a pregnancy has occurred after a female’s tubes have been tied or burned, it’s extremely important that she have the pregnancy looked into, as there’s a 35% chance it could be an ectopic pregnancy, which are extremely dangerous. While many of these cases will result in miscarriages if left untreated, some could result in the death of the woman.

If you’re looking to get pregnant now or in the future, or if you’ve accidentally been impregnated by not following the above advice, I’d recommend the e-book Pregnancy Miracle, which has great information on all aspects of pregnancy, including how to ensure your children are born healthy. It makes a great gift for you or a loved one.
