The use of acupuncture in infertility has been around in the Far East for hundreds of years, dating as far back as 200 B.C. It is based around the principle that the body has 20 energy pathways, and these pathways can become blocked, stagnant, etc. Through inserting acupuncture needles into specific places believed to be at the root of the trouble along that pathway, ailments, such as infertility, can be cured.
Discover how expert Acupuncture can cure Infertility.
Now if you’re not familiar with acupuncture for infertility, you may quickly conclude that it is nothing but far eastern mumbo-jumbo, and not rooted in any practical science. Your viewpoint would not be entirely unexpected, as acupuncture is indeed seen with scepticism by many in the western world, including medical professionals (not surprising though, as they have the most to lose from its widespread acceptance in the west).
You would however be wrong in adopting such a viewpoint, and the World Health Organization itself has concluded that acupuncture is useful for treating a variety of ailments, and could be useful for treating many more, though results of those studies are inconclusive thus far.
Even those medical professionals who grudgingly admit that acupuncture may provide some benefits contend that it does so through the Placebo Effect, curing patients through their own expectations of getting cured. This of course doesn’t take into account the fact that many people are sceptical of acupuncture before first trying it, and have no expectations of success.
As far as using acupuncture in infertility cases, the practice has been used in China for hundreds of years, and in the west for a few decades, and the results are undeniable. Acupuncture has been shown to have a positive influence on hormone levels in the brain, which help regulate the female menstrual cycle, among other things. Not to be left out, acupuncture can also be used to treat infertility in men, by improving blood flow to the penis, and improving sperm quality.
Not only can acupuncture help infertility on its own, it’s also been shown that when used in conjunction with other infertility treatments, such as in vitro fertilization, the odds of success increase dramatically as well, way beyond the usual success rates of those treatments when acupuncture has not been used.
When it comes to acupuncture for infertility, there’s also the benefit of cost. Many infertility drugs and treatments can cost an excessive amount of money, while acupuncture sessions are incredibly cost effective by comparison. There’s also absolutely no risk of side effects. The only possible negative one could draw from the whole procedure is that you’ll experience a minimal amount of pain (but as they say, no pain, no gain).
The benefits of acupuncture on infertility are undeniable. The success rate is on par with far more expensive and invasive procedures, while avoiding any potential side effects. If you’re open minded to trying out alternative treatments not often advocated by the western medical profession, then you should definitely give acupuncture a try.
